Electrolux supply a range of cleaners with different accessories, all of which are covered in this manual. Please refer to your specific model and it's accessories, which are shown on the outer box label. Please keep both cover flaps open and cross reference pictures with text where necessary. Clario Getting Started 1 2 3 Check the s-bagTM is in place. Insert the hose until the catch clicks to engage. (Press catch inwards to release). Attach extension tubes or telescopic tube to the hose handle and floor nozzle by pushing and twisting together (Twist and pull apart to dismantle). 4 Extend the cable and connect to mains. The cleaner is fitted with cable rewind. Press foot pedal to rewind (please hold the plug to prevent it striking you). 5 6 Press the On/Off foot pedal to activate the cleaner. To reduce suction, gradually open the aperture on the hose handle. Slide the electronic suction control between min and max (some models). Please follow these simple precautions: L M N O P Q R S T U W The Clario is double-insulated so it must not be earthed. The Clario is only to be used by adults Always store in a dry place Do not use to pick up liquids k u k Getting the best results Carpets: Use the floor nozzle with the lever in this position. Hard floors: Use the floor nozzle with the lever in this position. Wooden floors: Use parquet nozzle to avoid scratching (some models). Low furniture: Use ultra low nozzle for better clearance (some Avoid sharp objects Do not pick up hot cinders or lighted cigarette ends Do not use near flammable gases Avoid tugging on the mains cable and check cable regularly for damage Note: Do not use your cleaner with a damaged cable. If damaged the cable should be replaced at an Electrolux Service Centre The Plug must be removed from the socket-outlet before cleaning or maintaining the appliance All service and repairs must be carried out by authorised Electrolux service staff models). p q r Loose rugs/curtains/lightweight fabrics: Reduce the suction power. Use the floor nozzle for loose rugs and the upholstery nozzle for curtains, cushions etc. Lamps, pictures and bookshelves: Use the dusting brush. Confined areas: Use the crevice nozzle for crevices, corners and radiators. For healthier homes 45 2 6 Using Turbo nozzle or Power nozzle (some models) s-bagTM safety device To avoid damaging the cleaner do not use it without a dust bag. A safety device is fitted which prevents the cover closing without a dust bag. Do not attempt to force cover shut. Changing/Cleaning the filters These should be changed/cleaned every fifth dust bag. Never use the cleaner without the motor protection filter. To change Motor Protection filter: D) Release catch and swing back lid. E) Discard the unit. Put in new filter and close lid. To change Micro filter (some models): F) Open the filter cover. G) Discard the filter. Put in new filter unit and close lid. To clean HEPA filter (some models): H) Open filter cover and remove filter unit. I) Rinse the inside (dirty side) of the filter under warm tap Precautions: Only use nozzle on carpets with a pile depth under 15 mm. Do not use on animal skins or rugs with long fringes. To avoid damaging your carpet, do not keep nozzle stationary whilst brush is rotating. Do not pass nozzle over mains cable and switch off nozzle immediately after use. 7 8 9 10 Attach turbo nozzle or power nozzle to tubes. Connect power nozzle plug to power outlet on cleaner and use clips to secure cable to tube and hose. Power nozzle is activated by starting the cleaner. Suction can also be regulated on turbo nozzle by opening/closing air vent. Cleaning Turbo nozzle or Power nozzle (some models) 11 12 Disconnect from mains and remove entangled threads from nozzle by snipping threads with scissors. Insert screwdriver to remove power nozzle cover. Remove brush cylinder and supports. Clean as necessary and replace. To clean wheels, gently lever them from their mountings. 13 Replace cover ensuring it is properly fastened. Using combination nozzle/brush (some models) 14 15 16 Use in position shown for cleaning upholstery. Use in position shown for dusting. Attach to hose handle for storage. s-bagTM indicator and changing the s-bagTM For peak performance the s-bagTM must be changed when full. If the dust bag should accidentally get broken in the cleaner, take cleaner to an Electrolux Service Centre for cleaning. The s-bagTM indicator window will gradually turn red when filling and completely red when full. To check the s-bagTM, the cleaner must be switched on, with all attachments connected and off the floor. The s-bagTM full indicator may signify that the bag is blocked (occasionally caused by very fine dust) which will cause loss of suction and may result in overheating. If this occurs change the dust bag even if it is not full. To change the s-bagTM: A) Release catch and swing back lid. B) Pull the sliding tab to remove the s-bagTM. C) Insert the new s-bagTM by sliding the bag slots onto the holder. Close lid. We recommend the s-bagTM is changed: * * after using a carpet cleaning powder. if there is a bad smell from the cleaner, then you should also change/clean the filters. Note: Use only Electrolux original s-bagsTM and filters: s-bagsTM and motor protection filter (ref. E54) Micro filter (ref. EF17) Washable, reuseable HEPA filter (ref. EF26a). 19 18 17 water only. Do not use cleaning agents and avoid touching the delicate filter service. Tap the filter to remove excess water. Repeat cleaning procedure four times and allow the filter to air dry. The original filtering performance is now restored. Replace unit back into cleaner and close cover. Troubleshooting Power: If the electric power does not come on, disconnect from mains and check plugs, cable and fuses where appropriate. Blockages/dirty filters: The cleaner may switch itself off in the event of a severe blockage or excessively dirty filter(s). In such cases, disconnect from mains and allow to cool for 2030 minutes. Clear blockage and/or replace filter(s) and restart. The clearing of blocked hoses is not covered by the guarantee. To avoid blockages and maintain suction efficiency, the floor nozzles should be cleaned regularly using the hose handle. Please also see Electrolux additional information towards the back of this booklet. Water: If water is sucked into the cleaner the motor must be changed at an Electrolux Service Centre.
